Continue in Claude Code, Cursor, or any coding agent

Once the project is on GitHub, you are no longer tied to Base44. Clone the repository to your machine and run your coding agent — Claude Code, Cursor, Codex — directly in the project folder. The agent now works on your real codebase with full git history, instead of inside the builder's sandbox. And when you want planned features instead of one-off prompts, Feature1 connects your repo so agents implement against approved acceptance criteria.

What a GitHub repository gives you

The export moves your Base44 code into a repository you own. That changes a few practical things.

You get version history. Every change is a commit. You can see what changed and when, and go back to an earlier version if a change breaks the app.

You get a backup outside the builder. The code no longer lives only in Base44. If you stop using the builder, the repository is still yours.

You get a place for other developers and tools to work from. Other developers can clone the repository and review changes there. Coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor and Codex can work on the same code from your machine.

Before you rely on it, check the export the way the steps above describe: the files are there and the branch is the right one.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need before exporting a Base44 project to GitHub?

You need your app open in Base44, a GitHub username or organisation, and a name for the repository. Base44 may also ask you to invite its GitHub app or bot to the target repository. So pick a repository you can manage before you start. The export itself starts from the Export code icon in the top-right.

How do I check that the Base44 export worked?

First confirm that Base44 reports the export as complete. Then open the repository on GitHub and check two things: the files are there, and the branch is the one you expect. If something is wrong, go back over the steps: the username or organisation, the repository name, and whether the Base44 GitHub app was invited.

Can I keep working on my Base44 project in Claude Code or Cursor?

Yes. Once the code is on GitHub, you are no longer tied to Base44. Clone the repository to your machine and run Claude Code, Cursor or Codex in the project folder. The agent then works on your real codebase with full git history, instead of inside the builder's sandbox.
